Gulabo is an independent jewelry project founded by Italian designer and researcher Sara Santarelli.
What began as a fascination with ornament gradually evolved into years of collecting, documenting and studying jewelry traditions across India.
Through travels, conversations with artisans and the discovery of antique pieces, Gulabo became a way to explore how adornment carries memory, identity and culture across generations.
Alongside her contemporary collections, Sara is building an archive of antique ornaments, traditional techniques and regional craftsmanship. The purpose of this archive is not only to preserve objects, but also to document forms, skills and knowledge that are increasingly at risk of disappearing.
Today, Sara works closely with local artisans in Rajasthan to create handmade silver jewelry informed by traditional techniques and historical forms.
Every piece is handmade in small batches or as a unique object, embracing the individuality and imperfections that define true craftsmanship.
